Upcoming

Hi everyone,

This month’s feature is the young and upcoming jazz duo of Brittni Noble and Jared Smith.

About Brittni & Jared:
- Brittni and Jared cover a wide variety of tunes ranging from old jazz standards, to Pink Floyd, to Lady Gaga and other genres and crowd pleasers. They hope to inspire audiences with their passion and love for music.  They certainly inspired us during their warm-up appearance at the Coffee House.

- About logistics:
Time:  Doors open: 7:00pm, Warm-up acts: 7:30pm, Feature act: 9pm
Location:  Mount Seymour United Church, 1200 Parkgate Ave. (see below)
Admission: $10 - includes those delicious baked goodies, dark roast coffee, teas and cold drinks (Youth: $5 / children & musicians: free)
               
And a note to those of you who sing and/or play instruments … Our warm-up slots are filled for the next couple of months.  Contact Kathy Francis, our musician’s coordinator, if you’d like to claim a warm-up for the 2012 fall season.

          - June 8thErRatica, a popular Celtic-influenced band, features Don Davidson, Cameron Stewart, Jane Slemon and Bernard singing and playing flute, mandolin, banjo, guitar & fiddle.

          - September 21stTriVo is Karla Mundy, Brian Tate and Dawn Pemberton, a dynamic and versatile vocal trio that brings to life music from many cultures and traditions around the globe. came out of the chute with and what's happened since then is nothing short of amazing, but not surprising after heard him open for at the Cowichan Theater. Sometimes you don't really know about an entertainer until you see them in front of a crowd, that's where it all comes together and come together it did. Now I know what all the fuss is about... and has already attracted the attention of publishers, producers and the music industry in general and is continuing to build a loyal following who relate to his music and poignant lyrics. Anyone who has seen him perform can testify to his energy and passion...

Lynn Canyon Band



is a folk/roots music band with 4 members: Lesley Branton – vocals, Paul Coulter-Brown – mandolin / vocals, Bob McMillin – stand-up bass / vocals, Bill Mullaly – guitar / vocalsLynn Canyon Band
The Band has built up a diverse repertoire of material influenced by Bob Dylan, Buddy Holly, The Dillards, Grateful Dead, John Reischman, John Prine, The Beatles, Ian & Sylvia, Joel Plaskett, Rani Arbo, etc. Great guitar work is complemented by the driving rhythm of the mandolin and bass. The Band is particularly noted for its effective harmonies and has played feature gigs at folk clubs, the 2010 Winter Olympics, Cancer Foundation fund raising benefits, Parks & Recreation events and private parties.

They are three-quarters of what used to be a bluegrass band and now without a banjo in the line-up their repetoire includes much less bluegrass and much more blues, some jazz and many origional compositions.Kitty King, Dave Lindstone and Rob Mcgregor have played music togeather for about 30 years. They present their eclectic musical tastes on acoustic bass, guitar and mandolin, and all three sing.
